The Social Network
A film about contracts rather than technology, and about how a partnership comes apart.
- Director
- David Fincher
- Year
- 2010
- Runtime
- 120 min
It gets remembered as a technology film but there is almost no technology in it. What it is about is the ownership structure: who took what share, how the dilution happened, who was not invited to which meeting.
For anyone thinking about starting something alone, that is the real lesson. I see far more ventures fall apart over ambiguity in the partnership than over the product failing.
Three stars because the film is too in love with its own pace; every scene runs at the same tempo and after a while you stop caring who is right.
